Could USB 2.0 even keep up with that sort of HD bandwidth? NO. So we're back to needing a decent choice of consumer FIREWIRE / 1394 webcams - a market Apple foolishly abandoned even tho demand had not. Unibrain's Fire-I line would need a HD sensor update and could remain a contender in this webcam space. Logitech, Microsoft, Creative et al haven't fully embraced UVC compliant USB webcams YET (Wake up people!!!) - but at least seem to be doing so begrudgingly in their latest highest resolution high-end models. There's hope: the UVC standard bodes well for Linux, Mac and Vista compatibility near-term. Maybe that milestone needs to be reached first... and then a HD web cam market can follow???
